ALCOGUM^® L-Series viscosifiers allow the formulator to optimize the viscosity, flow, and drying properties of coating and construction products. ALCOGUM L-Series polymers provide excellent consistency and stability properties for compounds formulated above pH 7.0. Hydrophobically modified polymers (HASE) may be used to extend the range of application properties and reduce total formulation costs. ALCOGUM L-Series provide a cost effective alternative to cellulosic and alginate viscosifiers and are resistant to biological degradation.

*The Pseudoplastic Index (PI) is an indication of the shear-thinning behaviour imparted by a specific rheology modifier.  A PI of < 3 indicates a more Newtonian behaviour versus higher values.  Values between 3 and 18 indicate a medium shear-thinning behaviour, and values > 18 indicate a high shear-thinning behaviour may be expected.  The PI is dependent on the composition of the formulation under evaluation and is calculated by taking the ratio of the 0.5 rpm to 20 rpm Brookfield viscosity.
